Dakota's FAQ

How did you get published?

I began writing e-books in 2004 after reviewing them for an online review site. I submitted one to Liquid Silver Books and they hopped on the crazy train and bought it. It's been madness ever since. Then some good friends of mine decided I should take it a step further and hooked me up with my now agent. Honest. And before you ask, no, I can't do the same for you. I would if I had nads that big, but I just don't. My friends have them and they aren't sharing. Although, maybe you have a friend who has some clangers and can do it for ya

Would you read my chapter/short story/synopsis/etc.?

Well, I would if I had time to read anyone else's schlep but my own, but I don't because I'm flawed, baby, and the flaws take up some ubertime. However, I do have a suggestion for ya-look for some critique groups online via Google that are in your area. They'd be happy to read your stuff.

Would you introduce me to your agent?

I'm afraid I can't do that. My agent doesn't even want to see me-why would she want to see someone I'm associated with? You're better off without me. Really. And I'm kidding, but no, I really can't. However, my agent is Deidre Knight (soooo awesome) at the Knight Agency. Look her up online and read the agency submissions guidelines. You can also visit the Association of Authors' Representatives to find more literary agents.

Would you introduce me to your editor?

Are you out of your gourd? Dude-again, I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to see me either. Never, ever tell anyone you even remotely know me-or my name. Seriously, I love my editor and she's uber busy-so I think you need that agent we talked about before you hook up with her.

Where do you get your ideas?

Bed, Bath and Beyond. Really. Some seriously crazy stuff happens there-go forth and buy towels-you, too, will be inspired

What do you do when you're not writing?

I wax my legs-sometimes I even wax them twice. My life is small-so very, very small.

When did you first think about writing and what prompted you to submit your first manuscript?

Back when I was reviewing books online in 2003 I just had an idea and went with it-another good friend of mine prompted me to go for it and I did-never giving it a whole lot of thought because not in a mill did I think anyone would ever buy it. Now look.

How did you come up with the concept of color wheels and have you ever sold Mary Kay or cosmetics in general?

Uh, I made it up basing some of my info on what other cosmetic companies have used as guides for determining what colors are best for you-because I'm crazy like that and nope-I've never sold cosmetics. Though the good Lord knows I need a bunch of it so as not to frighten small children and the elderly.
